Griffin Capital

Griffin Capital Group - Institutional Launch

The Brief

Griffin Capital Group came to us marking a genuine inflection point — the firm's transition into a fully-fledged investment banking group, spanning Investment Banking, Asset Management, Trustees, Insurance Brokers and its Finance Company. The launch was staged at Villa Dome Event Center in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. The objective was direct: strengthen relationships with stakeholders and showcase Griffin's leadership in financial services, in front of a room of clients, partners and press who would form their opinion of the brand in a single event. The brief was to build an experience across four pillars — strategic brand visibility, executive networking, media engagement and premium guest experience — that felt like the institution Griffin intended to become.

The Challenge

Corporate launches tend to follow a formula — hotel ballroom, step-and-repeat, a run of speeches, dinner service. It communicates seriousness but not distinction. Our task was to strip the formula back and build a launch that carried Griffin's actual character — goal-oriented, responsible, driven by integrity, focused on excellence, fair, innovative and nimble — while still giving each of the five subsidiary lines its own moment of visibility within one coherent identity.

Our Approach

We built the identity system around Griffin's palette — Orange and Burnt Orange against Grey, with Light Orange, Light Beige and Light Grey carrying the brand into softer applications — and its line, "Innovative Thinking; Limitless Possibilities." Every touchpoint, from the first exterior signage to the closing photographs, was designed to carry that identity consistently rather than treat branding as a backdrop applied at the end.

Spatial Design

Guests' first point of branding was exterior: oversized 3D lettering spelling out Griffin Capital Group, paired with a stacked tower of illuminated boxes naming each subsidiary — Investment Banking, Asset Management, Trustees, Insurance Brokers, Finance Company — strategically positioned at arrival. A welcome arch carried guests from "Welcome" through to "Lagos," branded for the Institutional Launch, leading into an L-shaped media wall with a custom Griffin financial icon — a rising bar chart tracking each subsidiary's growth — set on a branded rug floor with live edit photography capturing guests on arrival. The main hall entrance repeated the arch motif at full scale, opening onto a backdrop reading "Welcome Valued Stakeholders."

Guest Journey

Doors opened at 10am, with guests received by the Griffin hosting team and hostesses and moved straight into refreshments and registration. A Master of Ceremonies opened the formal programme with the national anthem and welcome remarks, before Chairman Musa Bello delivered the opening address — setting out the institution's founding vision — followed by Group CEO Babatunde Obaniyi's launch address and logo reveal, presenting the brand, structure and client proposition to the room. A run of goodwill messages led into a panel discussion with the managing directors of all five subsidiaries, unpacking wealth preservation, capital access and strategic growth for the room.

Production

From the panel, guests moved into the ribbon-cutting ceremony — Chairman Musa Bello, Group CEO Babatunde Obaniyi and the full leadership team officially opening Griffin Capital Group — followed by guest remarks and a formal vote of thanks. The closing stretch was built for connection rather than ceremony: hosted conversations and group photography, with the leadership team circulating to facilitate one-on-one introductions, before the national anthem closed the formal programme and the room moved into lunch and further mingling.

Brand Moments

Every touchpoint carried Griffin's identity through to the smallest detail: lanyards and ID badges, branded tote bags, notebooks, mugs and a printed programme booklet made up the guest kit; feather banners announced each subsidiary along the guest path; and a hostess team in custom uniform — structured grey dress or blouse-and-skirt, finished with Griffin's signature orange neck scarf — carried the brand through every guest interaction. The leadership roster itself reinforced the "five businesses, one purpose" positioning: Chairman Musa Bello, Group CEO Babatunde Obaniyi, and the managing directors of Asset Management, Advisory, Finance and Insurance Brokerage, each presented as part of one coherent institution rather than five separate businesses sharing a stage.

Outcome

Griffin launched to a room spanning senior government officials, regulators, directors, clients, friends, family and colleagues from across the market — produced end to end from exterior branding through the formal programme, ribbon-cutting and closing conversations. Group CEO Babatunde Obaniyi closed the morning simply: "The work begins now."
